* A couple of notes and lessons learned in travelling in Spain
Transportation – We are tracking inter-country transportation separately. In the case of Spain, we flew from Dublin, Ireland to Barcelona, Spain for $90.61 on Aer Lingus. Listed costs include a car rental, various trains, taxis and gas for car borrowed at housesit. Costs for our side trip to Switzerland at the end of November are in their own post.
Housing – Housing costs were extremely low due to family covering much of the costs in Barcelona and a month-long housesit in the hill town of Lubrin.
Entertainment – Two-thirds of this is the cost of our tapas tour in Barcelona! Again, having family covering other costs in Barcelona helped a lot here.
Gear – Okay. Gear went a little crazy in Spain. First, we purchased a TomTom gps device for our Spanish road trip, choosing a more expensive version so we could change maps and continue to use it back in the US or wherever we go next! Next came a replacement camera when our original gave up the ghost in the streets of Barcelona. Finally, with chilly Iceland on the horizon, we sprung for wool long johns and other clothing items in preparation.
