Happy Thanksgiving everyone!! If we were there we’d join you in a giant plate of stuffing, taters and gravy. Then have dessert. And a second round of dessert. Unfortunately, I’m not sure there’s even a turkey here in Spain, much less gravy to go on it, so we’ll just have to focus on the multiple helpings of dessert part. As you munch away on your third piece of pie and read this blog, know that we think you’re doing the right thing.
For now, allow me to let you in on our exact conversation on the Monday before Thanksgiving, sitting in a cafe in Barcelona.
Anner: What are you thankful for on this trip?
Aaron: That we’re perfect travel partners and how lucky we are to have found each other and that we have so much fun together. I’ve thought about that just about every single day of the trip!
Anner looks down at her plate of crumbs and bites her lip knowing what comes next…
Aaron: And you? What are you thankful for?
Anner: (Looking sheepish and fidgeting in her chair) Um…infrastructure.
Well, there was never much doubt who the romantic was in this marriage, but that was a particular low. Luckily we both thought it was pretty funny. Then we got talking and just couldn’t shut up about all the things we were thankful for, including a few things that made us laugh so hard we had to wipe tears from our eyes as the server brought this hysterical couple their check. Somehow I bet no one else is thankful for the “yakking off the back of the boat, but still able to enjoy snorkeling” concept. That’s fine. We all have our thing.
No matter what you are thankful for we want to wish everyone who follows No Map Required a very happy Thanksgiving! Thanks for following, commenting, liking and re-tweeting. You give us the chance to re-live every fun memory of this trip. Hugs everyone. HUGS!
But, wait, there’s more! With this Thanksgiving you also get four servings of birthday celebrations! Turns out Thanksgving doubles as the biggest birthday day of the year:
- Happy Birthday, Boss (make sure he reads this, Ruthie, ok?)! I hope you had pecan pie AND birthday cake. Today, we will toast you with a can of Coke.
- Happy Birthday, Debra! May you set all new personal cross-fit records this year. We’re cheering for you and inspired by you.
- Happy Birthday to our brother-in-law, Wade! So glad the Royals came through for you. Best wishes for a super-fun year. (Abby, give him a hug for us.)
….and last, but certainly not least,
- HAPPY BIRTHDAY, AUNT CASEY! If you follow us on Facebook, or watch the comments on the blog, you know Aunt Casey has been with us from the get-go. May you have a spectacular PNW Birthday filled with salmon, really good coffee and beautiful photographic subjects. Please eat an extra piece of cake for us. We’ll do the same for you.
Now you know you want to, sooo…go get your second helping of seconds and enjoy the day. HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!!!!!
You two are so lucky to be able to explore and experience life around the world. Thank you for sharing your adventures. Happy Thanksgiving!
Thanks, Gail! Hope you had a fine Thanksgiving, too! We’re loving sharing our adventure and glad you’re enjoying joining us.
Thanks for the birthday wish. Best present- dessert! Least favorite present – that horrible photo! (But the memories of that place will live forever in my head and heart.) Love you two forever. So glad to have been part of a bit of your excursions. Don’t hurry home, but looking forward to niece and nephew hugs when you return. ❤️❤️
Happy Thanksgiving to you two darling people!
Hahaha!!! Infrastructure!
Hey, now! Infrastructure is no laughing matter! 🙂
Yes, Ruthie told me to read this. And yes the pecan pie was great, but I will never be a desert conisour like you guys. Thanks for the birthday wishes. Don’t hurry home, we know you are having too much fun. But please make sure you come home safely. That’s an order.
Ex-Boss
Yes, Sir, Boss! Doing our absolute best to be home late and unscathed.
Oh my God. You guys are hilarious. I am so glad you still like each other! Love to you.
By golly, we still do! More than ever! See, you did a fine job presiding over our union.
