* A couple of notes and lessons learned in travelling in Switzerland
Transportation – We are tracking inter-country transportation separately. In the case of Switzerland, we flew roundtrip from Barcelona, Spain to Zurich, Switzerland for $317.20 on Vueling Air. Within Switzerland all the travel costs were for inter-city train trips and 24hr passes within the Zurich area which covered all trains, trams and ferries in the city.
Housing – Thankfully we stayed with friends for the entire time allowing our housing costs to only consist of hostess gifts. Otherwise we probably couldn’t have afforded it – Zurich is expensive!
Food – The most expensive meals of any country we visited! A pasta dish or pizza could run $30 in an average restaurant! The best deals could be found at cafeterias in grocery stores or department stores (they often had the best views over the cities, too!).
