Fishing for some wonderful Barcelona street art with the artist El Pez.
If there’s one thing you can say about Barcelonans, they certainly prefer their street art colorful!
Color at the end of alleyways…
…color on the gates…
…even on the back doors of a delivery truck!
One of my absolute favorite artists does, I think, nothing but stencils. SM172, you do great work!
I’ve really grown to love this stencil style of work. Here it looks so wonderful against the red graffiti! And I did a little research to learn that the guy’s gas mask is for protection while working with spray paint – making this less dark and apocalyptic than I first imagined.
Another fine stenciled design by SM172. A lot of his work includes an image of the Earth in some form. Also, I didn’t realize it until later, but much of his work also includes text. I think the writing in pink on the right is actually part of this piece, though I’m not 100% sure – wish I’d gotten that in the photo…

Probably my favorite SM172 piece – much less dark.
Though it wasn’t really my style, I’d be remiss if I didn’t also include the work of El Xupet Negre – The Black Pacifier. He’s another with work throughout the city and he, along with Bombzone (whose work you can see on my previous Barcelona street art post), have actually been working in the city for over 20 years!! Folks tend to not paint over his work as he’s so respected.
Like Bombzone, another clear example of an artist’s name matching their work.
Those are some of the big highlights, but that’s not to say there weren’t PLENTY of other artists out there I enjoyed. Let the photos commence!

This lady was pretty unique. Oh, and you can see a Mischief paste-up above her.
This artist, H101, had a number of pieces around in this muted color palate.
There was one artist whose only work I saw was making a variety of tiles with his name on them in different ways:

Not sure this is any easier…but it’s actually MARS written both backwards and forwards.
Not quite sure if it’s an homage or not, but we also have:
SRAM23! Yep, SRAM, like MARS backwards. Not sure which might have come first…or even if they ar the same artist with a name change!

Saw this artist in London – he does stickers on street signs to create fun effects.
How can you not like this fine fellow?

Never did get the name of the top artist, though we saw a few of his in different colors. Below is another piece by SRAM23.
Didn’t see too many spots with a bunch of artists working in one place, but there were a few.

And I’ll leave you with a piece by Chef Love. He’s an actual chef who works using painted cans he posts with positive messages around the city. Love, indeed!
